These are GR-2 KYB gas shocks.  These are much better than the older super stiff white gas-a-just shocks.  These work great on the rear of bugs, on our front shock tower bug beams, and also on the front of our bus narrowed beams.

Type E ball joint beetle T1 beams use this style shock, rather than the stud top shock like a stock ball joint beam.
