USE THE PULL DOWN MENU TO SELECT THE TYPE OF ENGINE YOU ARE NEEDING.
These are thick 3/8" laser cut steel, and very handy for checking deck heights on cylinders, and also for mock up when building a stroker engine to check rod clearances while the rods and pistons are accurately positioned. These plates work for both 8mm and 10mm head studs.
I like to use one on each side of the engine, and mock up BOTH sides at once. This makes for very quick easy deck height measurements, and side to side comparison. They also make a nice flat solid surface to stick your mag base indicator to while finding true TDC.
Like in the picture, I use various deep well sockets to take up the extra length on the long head studs.
To measure your deck height, use a mag base indicator like shown to find true TDC when rotating the crank back and forth. Once you have TDC, use your depth mic to measure from the top of the deck plate down to the top of the piston. Then subtract the thickness of the deck plate from your depth mic measurement. You will need to take an accurate thickness of the deck plate, and they do vary some in material thickness.
